DirecTV Error Codes & Cures

Have you ever wondered what those error codes you occasionally see on your DirecTV recievers’ OSD (On Screen Display) really mean, and more importantly what steps you should take to correct them?  In some cases, the following steps may not solve your problem, and we may end up scheduling a visit by a technician to resolve your service issues.

Error Code 711- Access Card not Active
This is usually associated with a new access card.  Tune to channel 377, and verify that the error code still appears?
Solution 1: Contact DirecTV to have them reactivate the card onto your DirecTV account.

Error Code 721- Service isn’t Authorized
Solution 1: Contact DirecTV to have them resend service authorizations to your receiver.
Solution 2: Contact DirecPath to have them resend service authorizations to your receiver.

Error Code 722- Service Expired
Solution 1: Contact DirecTV to have them resend service authorizations to your receiver.
Solution 2: Contact DirecPath to have them resend service authorizations to your receiver.

Error Code 724- Reciever ID Pairing not Received
Solution 1: Contact DirecTV to have them resend service authorizations to your receiver.
Solution 2: Contact DirecPath to have them resend service authorizations to your receiver.

Error Code 726- Wrong or Missing Reciever ID Number
Solution 1: Contact DirecTV to have them resend service authorizations to your receiver.

Error Code 727- Program not Available in your Area
Solution 1: Contact DirecTV to have them resend service authorizations to your receiver.

Error Code 731- Access Card Full
Solution 1: There is a DirecTV issue related to the VOD or Pay Per View item you ordered.  Please contact DirecTV.

Error Code 733- IPPV Purchase Limit Reached
Solution 1: There are unrecovered Pay Per View charges on your DirecTV Account.  Please contact DirecTV to resolve those charges.

Error Code 734- Unable to Order IPPV
Solution 1: Contact DirecTV to have them resend programming to your receiver.
Solution 2: Contact DirecPath to have them resend programming to your receiver.

Error code 736- Disabled Due to no Callbacks
Solution 1: There are unrecovered Pay Per View charges on your DirecTV Account.  Please contact DirecTV to resolve those charges.

Error Codes 741/742/743- PPV Data was Missing
Solution 1: There is a DirecTV issue related to the VOD or Pay Per View item you ordered.  Please contact DirecTV.

Error Code 744- Loss of Programming
Solution 1: Reset the receiver by pressing the red reset button (located behind the door on the front of the receiver).

Error Code 746- Possible Data Corruption
Solution 1: Reset the receiver by pressing the red reset button (located behind the door on the front of the receiver).
Solution 2: Remove the access card from the receiver (white card inserted next to the reset button). Reset the receiver by pressing the red reset button, then reinsert the access card.

Error Code 747- Unable to Complete
User was attempting to order PPV when this error appeared or if they were attempting to use the auto-tune feature?
Solution 1: If ordering PPV, customer should contact DirecTV customer care.
Solution 2: If using auto tune, Reset the receiver by pressing the red reset button (located behind the door on the front of the receiver).

Error Code 750- Service Not Active
Solution 1: Reset the receiver using the red button (located on the behind the door on the front of the receiver).

Error Code 761- Insert your Card or MRR Service
Solution 1: Remove and Reinsert access card.
Solution 2: Remove the access card and reset the receiver using the red button (located on the behind the door on the front of the receiver). Reinsert the access card.

Error Code 762- Insert Valid Card or MRR Service
Solution 1: Remove and Reinsert access card.
Solution 2: Remove the access card and reset the receiver using the red button (located on the behind the door on the front of the receiver). Reinsert the access card.

Error Code 763- Access Card Expired
Solution 1: Contact DirecTV to have them resend service authorizations to your reciever.
Solution 2: Contact DirecTV or DirecPath to get service reactivated.

Error Code 772- Acquiring Guide/Data
Solution 1: Reset the receiver using the red button (located on the behind the door on the front of the receiver).

Error Codes 777/780/781- DOD PPV
Solution 1: If Receiver is networked via Ethernet port, please follow these:
